Sock Summit

I have survived Sock Summit Marketplace mania. I saw a lady I met on Ravelry who came down from Seattle. I also saw a couple of people who have known my family for a very long time. I did meet Anne Hanson and spotted Cookie A. a few times. There were yarny celebs all over the place. I saw the YarnHarlot running around and looking very hi-tech with her radio headset.

The market was amazing and wonderful. The Sanguine Gryphon booth was crazy beyond belief. It seemed like there were so many people grabbing. I got a couple bugga for another person and then had to stand in line for 30 minutes to pay. Around lunch time I was volunteering at the marketplace entryway and my mom went shopping some more. She went back to SG just after Gryphon re-stocked the Bugga rack. Mom said there was no one around (they were probably at the Guiness World Record attempt) and she leisurely chose a few she liked and bought them. She bought them also because she saw the mayhem at the beginning of the day over the very same yarn. Mom loved all the SG colorways so much that she declared it her favorite booth and went there a 3rd time right before we left the marketplace. It was so funny to me that mom, who never stalked a website or stayed up late trying to score yarn, got herself some pretty bugga with no line, no hassles.

A new vendor was www.VanderRockYarns.com from Canada. They were super nice people and had a nice selection of yarn. I also liked Frog Creek Fibers, The Loopy Ewe, Hazelknits and the list goes on and on.

No pictures because I didn't want to lug the camera around (sorry).

I am slightly jealous of all those people who are taking classes, but I am happy I got to go to the market. Going with my mom made it even better. I’m hoping there will be a next year…

Another Field Trip...and more knitting

My 3rd field trip in 8 days...this time it was with the 4th grade class to OMSI. It was a bit boring when we arrived because a fire alarm had gone off and they had evacuated the building which meant we were stuck on the bus for a bit until they cleared the building to re-admit everyone.
We saw the big Leonardo exhibit and had fun with the hands on exhibits.

I got another few inches on my Lace Ribbon Scarf done.

Field Trip Day....

I went on a field trip with the 6th grade band students to hear the Oregon Symphony play. It was a very nice day. My group of 8 kids was extremely well behaved. I knit on the bus and two boys in my group were fascinated. They thought knitting was very interesting. They wanted to know how to start. They thought I knit fast (LOL!). They thought knitting looked complicated. I was tickled that they were even interested and that knitting was a good thing in their eyes.

Sockdown April - Off to a late start

I saw a sock on Ravelry that was posted in the April Sock Knitters Anonymous group...it was lovely, it had symmetry, I wanted to knit it. So I've started on it and done my first picot cuff.
Details here - my project page for Ivy League socks.
